Field Trip - Jon and Kori's NEW house!

My brother Jon and his wife Kori moved into a new home last fall and I waited until now to post pictures since I knew the longer I waited, the better the house would get.  Kori has had some time to put her individual "touch" on the house and it is looking great.  First I have to show her stencil projects she just completed (I'm a little partial to these since they are my stencils that she borrowed and I love how they turned out!).

The Laundry Room - Trellis stencil from cuttingedgestencils.com

Family Room - Casablanca Stencil (in the arched niche) from cuttingedgestencils.com

Love this collection of clocks in the built in shelves

The Kitchen

I love this little niche and the blue dresser that fits perfectly in it!

The Living Room

The Master Bedroom

Master Bath - the darling light is from shades of light

The girls rooms are also darling (of course!)

 The Exterior

Robert McArthur was the builder of this home (love his style!).  Some of the beautiful furnishings are from our cousin Jess's store Alice Lane.  Other furnishings are just lucky finds from TJ Maxx and elsewhere (Kori has a nack for that!).  If you would like to see my post on their previous home click here.

  1. Holy cow! It's beautiful...and massive. I love all of the personal touches. It looks so warm and cozy, which is something that's hard to do in a house that is so grand and awesome!

  6. Wow...is all I can say. Do you know where she purchased the dining table?

  7. The dining table is my favorite dining table ever - I just wish it came in bigger sizes or had leaves to extend so I could get it! Here in Utah you can get it at my cousin Jessica's store "Alice Lane" in Orem. Here is the link

If you live outside of Utah you can search for it online. It is made by Oly Studio.

  10. So pretty! What are the paint colors in the laundry room? I.E. The gray on th walls and the yellow of the cabinets?!

  11. The grey paint is "Creek Bend" by Behr. I am sorry to say the cabinets were painted that yellow color by the previous owner of this house so my brother and sister-in-law don't know the name of that.

  12. Okay, this is probably a tad presumptuous of me but I'm a long time reader and I've just gotta ask... what do you people do for a living that your houses are so stinkin' gorgeous? Please tell me the real estate market is really low in your neck of the woods because this house, with it's detail, where I live would cost an easy 2.2 mil. Because ya... either your market is better than ours, you live under a highway overpass or I'm doing something seriously wrong... or a combination thereof. lol

Again.... feel free to delete/not answer. I'm so embarrassed to even ask (hence the anon) and it's so rude. I've just always wondered...

  13. I am not upset at all by your comment and think you are justified in wondering! My husband is a CPA and my brother is a Medical sales rep and business owner. Both do very well in their business and not a day goes by that I don't thank my Heavenly Father for our blessings. Also I don't know where you are from -but the cost of living is generally pretty low here in Utah and yes the real estate market is bad here too. Because the market is bad it was a good time for us to buy our home, we got a good deal and although we had to sell our previous home at a lower price it was still higher than what we had paid for it because we bought before the market went crazy and started raising the price of homes up and up and up! Basically we bought low and sold high then bought low again. The same is true for my brother. Personally though I think what really makes my brother's house look like a 2.2 mil. house is the decorating! My sister-in-law has great taste and has made the interior look like a millions bucks even though she hasn't spent anywhere near that much! It's like the shows on HGTV where they take a boring house on the market and spend a little money "staging" it and it then sells for more money because it looks so much more appealing.

  14. Thanks so much for replying, I appreciate it! Still following, and LOVING, your blog/house! You're right, decorating makes all the difference. On that note, please come to my house and decorate ;) And both homes (yours and your Brother's) look like they belong on HGTV. Gorgeous! (and, yes, it did take half a year for me to find the bookmark I made to check for a reply)
